While too many of Florida’s waterfront cities have succumbed to claustrophobic overdevelopment, tacky tourist traps, and high-rises, Vero Beach remains the breath of fresh air. Though classified as a city, Vero, with a strict policy that no building can exceed four stories, feels more like a seaside village. It’s the rare place we didn’t know still existed in the Sunshine State.
Unique in many ways, Vero is a quietly sophisticated coastal hamlet where blue collar workers happily coexist with billionaires. Among its offerings: a world class art museum, top shelf street shopping, scenic natural wonders, and the best Atlantic beach south of Georgia. While most flock to Miami, Orlando, Tampa or the Keys (let them), Vero’s under-the-radar charms makes it the real resort getaway. It’s unsurprising that Oprah recently strolled the town’s Ocean Drive shopping district in broad daylight completely unnoticed...Read more

You can now travel to more destinations from Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport. Starting today, Elite Airways is offering non-stop service to Portland; Newark, New Jersey; and Long Island. Until now, the airport only offered non-stop service to Boston.
The airport held an inaugural flight ceremony this afternoon, complete with a water bridge courtesy of local firefighters. Dignitaries joined airport and airline officials in a ribbon cutting. The airport’s manager says the added flights reflect the airport’s continued growth.
“Well it’s really exciting–as you guys may recall, we did this big terminal expansion a couple of years ago, and without that expansion, there’s no way we’d be able to accommodate a carrier like this. so the timing of it has all worked out quite well. It’s exciting for us. We want to get as many boardings as we can do, we can continue to give our travelers the best options they have,” said airport manager Brad Madeira.
Flights to and from Newark will be available Thursdays and Sundays. Flights to and from Portland and Long Island will be on Fridays and Sundays. Right now the service is slated to be seasonal, but could become year-round depending on demand. For more information visit eliteairways.com.

Elite Airways will restart service at Fort Collins-Loveland Airport and possibly add another city
By Craig Young, Reporter-Herald Staff Writer
LOVELAND -- Elite Airways, the small airline that brought commercial service back to the Loveland airport last August, announced Tuesday that it would restart its service to the Rockford, Ill., airport in May. Elite discontinued the route in January with the promise of resuming it in the spring. President John Pearsall said the airline would fly two round trips between the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport and Chicago-Rockford International Airport starting May 23.
On Mondays and Fridays, flights will arrive here at 9:15 a.m. and leave at 4 p.m. for the return to the Chicago-area airport. The large gap between arrival and departure leaves time for a flight somewhere else, Pearsall said. That's the way we've designed that schedule. That airplane is going to do something else before going back to Rockford," he said.Read more
